Hi! I am another newbie learning to sail. I have been around boats all my life but never sailboats. For my journey, I decided to start small so I could learn the basics and sail in many different locations, easily. I bought an old Barnett Butterfly. I put in some elbow grease and replaced a few things that needed it. Here is a picture of the hull before I cleaned it up and sanded it down.
I finally got to take her out last weekend and I had a great time. Plus I learned a lot. Like always take an oar and sailboats and weedy lakes don't play well together
Here is a picture right before I launched her.
I may repaint the deck this winter to get rid of the faded seventies burnt orange. Other than that I am hoping all the repairs are done for the summer.
I wanted to say that I have lurking around here for a little while now and this place is a wealth of knowledge. I hope to learn from everyone here. If all goes well I will buy a cruiser in the next two years.
