Help, Nav software that puts my GPS to sleep.

My name is Ryan and I'm up in Maine trying to get my Cap'n Software v-5.2.0 to work with my Garmin 182C. I have another program working just fine (SeaClear, but is isn't a nice as The Capt'n) and even when I fire up Cap'n, she sees the GPS at first.

The problem that I have is that after about 1 min of good GPS lock, I get an error saying "Your GPS appears to have gone to sleep" Then I have nothing. Any thoughts? I don't really want to spend $$ on a new, updated copy if I can get away with it. I've looked inside the GPS and there is no adjusting the settings. It's locked at NMEA in/out and 4800 baud.

Is there anywhere inside the Capt'n program (or in the file structure) I can tweak a setting?

Please help if you have thoughts. (Other than: "Go buy new software!")
