If you have more than one comm port on your computer, you could try it on a different comm port to see if the port is the issue. It might be an IRQ conflict. I kind of doubt that—especially since SeaClear seemed to not have a problem, but it is worth a shot. It could also be that you have some other software running in the background, like Palm Desktop or something similar that is grabbing the serial port from the GPS chart program.
