Smile Dumb Question about Mooring

We recently relocated to Connecticut from Northern New York. We kept our 28' sailboat at a nice dock on Lake Champlain for the last few years. Now that we are down here we would like to bring our boat down to Long Island sound, but the slips here cost twice as much. So we are considering a mooring. Our parents sail with us frequently and are concerned that it will be too difficult for them to board our boat from a dinghy (or tender service that the marina provides). Our boat does not have a swim ladder currently so we would have to buy one. Just wondering (since we have never used a mooring) is it that difficult to board a sailboat from a dinghy/tender? Is there anything we can do to make it easier for them?
Thanks
