Lewmar still makes parts for most of their winches. When I bought my 1986 Newport 28, it came with the 30ST, and the strippers were broken. After having the line jam a few times I bought the replacement part. It takes about 10 minutes to install, and then you never need to worry about it again.

My O'day had Barient winches. They have a metal stripper that won't break. But you can only get parts from Australia!
