Friction in this case to me, is how much the line rubs on the sheaves, or the sheaves will not turn. This friction will cause the pull to be harder than it should. If you were to go to a local marin hardware store, Spin to sheaves, one with ball bearings, the other a solid sheave. The ball bearing sheave will turn 4-5 turns before stopping, the solid sheave maybe 2-3. This is caused be friction. IE things rubbing against ea other so you can not pull, push move etc something.
