I'll echo this. We carry a whole collection of tools, all organized by task (electrical, plumbing, engine, general), but my most-used tool is the one on my hip all the time. I've gone through a few multi-tools over the years, and currently carry this one:

I'm in the same boat. *grin* I have a full set of hand and power tools on the boat and another set in my shop (actually a big trailer). I carry a Leatherman (pre-Wave) that I use often for little tasks. I'm a rabid "right tool for the job" person and surprised myself when I started carrying a multi-tool and surprised myself again at how often I used it.
If I have a significant project I break out the real tools.
