We just Purchased a 1973 Albin Vega 27'. It is the Jib sheets that are getting hung up (didn't I write that?)...the previous owner just kind of dealt with it and said that it really wasn't a big deal, but we once owned a Sabre 28' MK1 and life lines were "feet" away from the winches....this is why the thought never occurred to me to check it out when we inspected the boat with the lifelines detached...never considered this to be an issue (lesson learned)!
The boat can be sailed this way, but I would like to lead the lower lines either through a fairlead or hook of some sort...still maintaining tension, but leading it away from the winches....that is all.
