The other concern I have is what to do if a thunderstorm comes up. At one seminar the advice was to ride it out. Thanks for any help.
Landwhale,
Where are you from?
We are at Eldeans; Z-Dock.

When we cruise, I like to have company.
I do all of the sailing and handling of the boat, but my wife is along to take a watch when necessary. We routinely sail back and forth to Chicago like this. If your comfortable docking your boat after a ten to twelve hour day on the water by yourself, than go for it. I like have someone else on board when it comes to docking, especially in strange harbors.

I have not been up that way in a while, but the South Manitou Island Anchorage might break that leg up into a couple of shorter legs. (I would have to check the charts again)

I here there are a lot of boater's in your position. I think the Casino in Hammond kinda did you guys in. Monroe Harbor in Chicago is full of displaced former Hammond guys.

Are you planning on doing the North Channel?

Good luck with the cruise.
It would be nice to meet up sometime.
Like I said, we are in Eldean's, send me a PM. We are there every weekend.
Tim
