Hmmm, all this talk about mildly hallucinogenic coconuts dislodged a near forgotten ritual I . . . ahem . . . had heard mentioned - way back in my bachelor days.
At times when the stash of leaves from a certain herbal plant ran scarce, the collection of saved, unconsumed portions from the ends of this rolled herb, were compressed tightly into a round wad, until roughly the size of an unshelled walnut.
This curiously brown orb, was then wrapped tightly with moistened sheets of rolling paper, until it took on the vague appearance of a tiny coconut - hence what it came to be affectionately called.
Once impaled by a specilized clip, then ignited, the combusted coconut emitted a thick plume of aromatic smoke. The coconut was then passed around the eagar participants to perform it's medicinal magic.
Or so I've been told.
