Horizon 900 windlass
My Horizon 900 windlass has refused to raise or lower my anchor. I''ve established that it''s a mechanical fault.
Rather than hurl this beast into the sea I decided to strip it down and try to fix the fault.
Unfortunately I can''t get the drum (that big black pulley thing on the opposite side of the windlass to the pulley that carries the chain) to come off. The manual tells me that all I have to do is unscrew the retaining bolt and remove the drum.
I never did care much for manual authors.
After a lot of grunting and groaning with a hub puller I''m afraid I might be doing some damage. Has anyone on this group managed this job without causing irreparable damage to windlass and/or mental health? Can I just let rip and heat it and thump it with a hammer?
