I am not familiar with Antifouling wax as mentioned above, but since you are located in the Great Lakes Region and I believe you will be on either L Michigan or Huron and August- September are usualy when we get the warmest water, you will need some protection.

If not, you will have a lot of slime build up even in that short period of time in my opinion.

I would go with some VC-17 like most do in this area. It will be a bit expensive, but its very easy to work with. If you bottom is currently bare, make sure you do the proper prep work that is required for bare fiberglass. Read the can carefuly.

It might seem like a lot of work now for such a short time, but when you are ready to splash next year it will be a piece of cake. VC is very easy to work with and will simply require you to reapply next year. Very little work is needed between seasons.
