Your beautiful dodger snaps to the cabintop forward. what's the chances of doubling up those snaps with a couple of nylon straps. They'd extend aft to the teak where you could secure them. Then the door could lay flush on the cabintop, with straps holding it down, with or without the dodger in place. Just a thought. I'd probably mount it on the overhead the way you did before.
