my problem precisely

the anchor locker is shallow; and...you don't want to mount a windlass in the lid since is has light hinges to handle the stresses. I've accepted mounting the windlass aft of the locker. I looked for something to feed the rode forward, which requires it to reverse the rode 180 degrees; not simply drop it 90 down into the locker. Couldn't find what i was looking for. I'm now looking (on line) at a Lofrens capstan style windlass t 700; I imagine I'll wrap the rode around the capstan a few times then feed it forward into the locker by hand. This will require a motor intruding into the v-berth; maybe i can live with that.
