After talking with the club's Commodore, I go to hook up to shore power Sunday. Cable's three measly feet too short. Grrr. Exploring my options, find a local eBay seller that's selling a used 100' "30A" shore power cable. Meet him. Buy it. Only this morning, showing it to somebody else, do I notice it's not quite as thick as my 50' cable. Read the jacket. It's 12/3 cable! Yeah, that's right: Somebody put 30A Hubble connectors on "20A" cable.
So now I'm thinkin': Screw this for a game of soldiers. I'm just going to find myself 10' of yellow jacketed marine 10/3 and splice it in. Believe me: I can do a splice like that that'll be electrically as good as the plugs (at least), strong enough I'd trust it for rappeling off a bridge

, and "water resistant" enough to leave laying on the ground indefinitely.
Now what am I gonna do with 100' of exceedingly heavy-duty yellow extension cord, I wonder?
