Traditionally sailors don't learn to swim, as the sea will have a taste of you, it'll pull you under if the boat sinks.
Seagulls are the souls of departed sailors, so we don't harm them
We don't set sail on Friday, it's unlucky, because that's the day Christ was crucified.
Whistleing is not done, as you coud whistle up a wind.
If you rename the boat it should be on dry land, or if not, the old name of the boat should be somewhere displayed, that way the sea gods will think it's the same boat.
