Lubricating heads?
I took my Y valve apart the other day and cleaned and lubricated it with marine silicone. I used latex gloves...it was not a fun job. The handle had broken and I spoke with the manufacturer who is sending me a new handle but suggested I 'clean and lube' the valve. When I put it back together I noticed a gallon jug of mazzola corn oil tucked behind the wall. I nearly threw it out but guessed the privious owner may have used this to keep the valve and head lubricated. [I e mailed him and he confirmed it] Is this a well known or familiar practice?
