I have a 1973 Volvo-Penta, MD6A, 2 cyl diesel engine. After doing some repair work to the old girl, I discovered that the top of my lift
pump has corroded shut and I can't seem to budge it to get to the screen or the diaphram inside. The bolt comes out easily, but the cover is really on there. It looks as though there should have been a gasket there to avoid such an issue, but that is long gone! The piece is shaped a little like a chinese peasant hat and is very thin where it meets the body of the
pump and appears to be quite delicate.
any suggestions on what i might be able to do to loosen it and eventually get this piece off?
Once Again...
Many Thanks!
Chris
