Got to sail on the Alerion38 during race week in Marthas Vineyard and it was suprisingly fast, easy to sail and comfortable but a $150000 day sailor should be...Did look at the B49 Tonic but it was immediately after boarding the Hylas 54, Passport 515, etc and it looked pretty cheesy by comparison (not a fair one I know). Sole boards were all rickety, etc. but have no clue how well it may sail. Interesting cockpit Hood50something there. Guess what surprised me most is the decreased numbers of boats, particularly sailboats, compared with previous years. According to some of the mfg reps with whom I spoke, the cost of boat shows has gone up dramatically plus the number of people actually buying at boats shows has gone down so as to make it a bad investment to have all their models, e.g., no C400, H44, one Oyster, only a few IPs. Be interested to see how annapolis goes.
