Thanks for the feedback. We started at $44K and got to $35 where we are at present. Subject, of course to survey and sea trial. I'm still thinking we are a little high on price. Not too familiar with the 39 and so wanted some thoughts on both the boat and the deal. This is a no broker deal just person to person. In my mind a good thing.
If it surveys well and you like its slightly pokey (OK, "cruiser-oriented") sailing characteristics, I don't think 35K is unreasonable, particularly if the engine and exhaust is a lot newer than the 35 year old boat.
There's one I walk by at a friend's club and while I would prefer a Corbin 39 in that sort of "bathtub coaming center cockpit" style, I think it's a fundamentally decent boat of its time and would make a roomy and dry coastal cruiser that you could easily live on.
This one is practically a pilothouse...looks nice!
