Dougyoung, I got Teleflex gauges and senders, from Defender, also a new tach, alternator driven, that won't do anything but "blip" one time when the alternator turns on, and again when I shut the engine down. A friend said to run the battery down a bit, then try again. Gotta say I'm a bit relieved poopdeck's pressure is the same, I do prefer when things operate in the middle (safe) range. btrayfors, I ran the engine in gear for a while to try and get the temp up a bit, it is fresh water cooled, maybe it'll get up higher when run under load for longer. Also, I did just completely overhaul the cooling system. Think I'll do a couple of oil and filter changes this weekend, just for peace of mind.
