I also spoke with Liza at Annapolis. She is a talented writer and I told her that we''d like to continue our relationship in the Spring when we reevaluate our lineup. In the meantime, we''ve moving forward to provide you with the best content we can at a cost that the company can support...
Yes, we have made a decision to reduce some of our content acquisition. The simple reality is that we were publishing as much original content in a month as any of the mainstream sailing magazines. The rub is that they rec''d $1M in ad revenues per month and we didn''t... something had to change.
So, we went to the logs and looked at what people actually spent time on. There were several areas that enjoyed wide readership. Others not as much. We decided to keep the most popular items and reduce the others. You''ll continue to see original content every month -- just on a more realistic schedule. You won''t find the daily news because the readership, while dearly loved by us, wasn''t large. You''ll also see more focus on user-to-user features including these boards, the owner''s groups, and some other ideas we''re lining up.
Hopefully you''ll find that we''re doing a better job of targeting our resources at the things that interest the vast majority of you... rather than trying to be everything for everybody.
