I did Solomons to Deltaville to Hampton. One day for each. If you're ready for a marina stop by then (like a real shower), the Hampton Public Piers are the cheapest around if you're a BoatUS member ($1.25). The Costeau Society is right there as well as numereous resturuants.
If you take the Dismal Swamp Route (if you're going on south) lock openings are at 9am and 3am at both ends. You can tie up at the NC vistors center also, as well as pick up a free Florida and NC cruising guide there.
