If you have to motor around, you can easily come into the inlet at Ship Shoal, spend the night there, then head north early tomorrow and make it all the way to Chincoteague or maybe Ocean City, MD. Both those inlets, however, can be a little hairy when the tide is rolling. Ship Shoal Inlet is a piece of cake, even when the tide is running hard. However, there are some sand bars directly east and southeast of the inlet that you need to skirt. The approach is from the northeast and well marked.
