As far as the knuckleheads you mentioned, anyone with $15 dollars can buy a Lonely Planet travel guide and know how to plan a safe trip. They must have had on "I love Castro" t-shirts when they walked back through U.S. customs.

Tens of thousands of Americans make the trip every year, including many sailors!
