Convertable window for dodger

Brainstorming here... I have a 30ft sailboat which has a hybrid dodger. The top and structure are solid and fixed to the boat, but the front and side windows are canvas & vinyl snapped into place. I have never liked clear vinyl, you cant see through the stuff.
So here is my idea, on the front panel, replace the vinyl with a solid sleet of Plexiglas or lexan, kind of like a slid rear window in a convertible top. Not sure how to go about doing this. Can I glue a sew-able strip of some sort of fabric or plastic to Plexiglas?
I also though about simply making the front 'hard' but the geometry would require major changes and not look good.
Thanks for any ideas
