That's a standard feature on the Pacific Seacraft Dana 24 and the Crealock 31. Both fairly small boats so this little trick really opens up the cabin.

Giulietta, that is a propane cabin heater. We have the same unit on our boat. It is built by a Canadian company called "Dickinson", and "Newport" happens to be the name of that particular model. They come in two sizes, roughly 9,000 and 12,000 btus, and have an internal electric fan to help circulate the heat. There are similar versions that use diesel and solid fuels. This is a pretty good arrangement for taking the chill off in the early spring and late fall. Compared to the cost of installing an Espar or Webasto forced-hot-air system they are a good value.
