making & installing an asymetrical sprit

assymetric.

This year I moved to an assymetric spinnaker as I generally sail short-handed. The sail is 500sq foot cf. the spinnaker at 650 sq foot. I used a 3" dia spinnaker pole, mounted through a 4" dia s/s hoop, which is bolted to the tangs of the jib furling gear(plastimo 608S) the rear of the pole is clipped by the standard end fitting to a U-bolt on the foredeck offset so that the fore end of the pole is on the centreline when the pole is in position 5''6" ahead of the forestay. I did not fit any gear to pull the pole forward, but rigged it by hand.

The sail could be hoisted, set and sailed and dropped single-handed all from the cockpit.

The boat is a 25''6" Hustler 25.5 used for cruising and regattas in the English Channel
I think that I have photos on cd I you would like to see them.
