I hate to disagree but a spider band is the same thing, that is to say a band on a spar but it’s on a mast and it has cleats or belaying pins built in so it can look like a spider to drunk sailor with poor vision. And if you add a ring to a cranes iron for another spar to slide in such as a topmast or boom for a studding sail the cranes iron is now called a wythe iron.
