The problem is ..You guys don't know what good crew or sailors are...A good crew has a little puke on their topsiders..been there and don't complain when things get a little tough..but merely executes.. That's why academy cadets learn to follow innane orders..to execute and keep their mouth shut..it's called discipline..either you have it..or you never learned it..
It's not an ego trip..It's one mind directing..all the oars have to be in the same direction..The undesciplined mind or unseasoned sailor doesn't understand that..From dealing with recent experience of "Yachtsmen"? that's the case it seems..
If you don't have the resources..Get a job..don't poor mouth me..
If the sailor didn't like the ship or the Captain.. with real sailors, He or she, didn't throw their card in for the job..They just sat in the hall ..AND KEPT THEIR MOUTH SHUT.

A good captain... with a good crew doesn't do anything..He just makes sure things run smoothly.."If you can grasp that philosophical concept"..He doesn't yell.. He just gives an order and it is done..nice and friendly like..A well run vessel is efficient and low key..no drama..
Cabin boys need experience on day sails around the buoys..First things first...I don't want you..nothing personal..earn your stripes with experience..That's what credentials are all about..You need not explain..You got there..and that's what counts..
I don't have room for rookies on an 800 mile sail to Panama.with 2 crew I want sailors..who have been there.."at least know which way the wind is blowing"...At least make sure the vessel is secure before running off to take a shower..well he quit anyway..
The cameraderie comes from overcoming whatever difficulty the voyage throws at you.. Feeling a sense of a job well done, overcoming difficulty.. Wipeing the puke off your topsiders..Fixing what needs to be fixed..and asking ...Captain when do we sail..Now that's a crew member.
