With regard to Bush, I remain thankful for 3 things:
1. That he had the fortitude to take action after 9/11 and despite all the attacks against him has remained strong in protecting this country from all threats.
2. That he implemented tax cuts which allowed the economy to grow and prosper even while spending hundreds of billions on war.
3. That he made good appointments to the Supreme Court

On the down side:
1. He did not use his veto pen when the repubs were in charge and let spending create huge deficits and destroy the value of the dollar.
2. He has taken a Democratic position on Amnesty and is not serious about closing our southern border.
3. He has not fixed social security, medicare or pension benefits issues and his efforts to address social security were well off the mark and received no level of support from dems or repubs.
4. He let bad intelligence lead us to war in Iraq (I don't fault him there since the whole world believed it)...then compounded the error by trying to justify it in other ways...then compounded it further by letting Rummy get it all wrong on the ground instead of listening to the generals. We are winning now...but our troops paid a high price for the poor conduct of the war.

I entirely disagree with your assessment of the immigration problem. Securing the border from terrorists is only a peripheral issue. We need to secure it so that 20-30 million illegals that are costing us tens of billions a year, stressing our health and school systems and keeping american jobs and wages down while delivering higher profits to illegal employers are stopped...Stopped before they can be issued drivers licenses and vote democratic in gratitude.

And lets be clear...we already turned congress over to the Democrats..... Because of corruption and failure to adhere to true republican/conservative principles. If we don't get a presidential candidate that speaks the truth
and really stands up for republican values...Hilary will win because the swing voters will not come out to beat her.

A real debate about the issues and what should be done will not hurt republicans.
