No flamethrower from me sail, only a regurgitation of the fact repeated many times in this thread . . . for significant vessel transactions, a survey from a certified surveyor is required by the lender and insurance carrier. Therefore, unless you're a member of SAMs, NAMS, ABYC or the like, you have no choice.
