Nifty, but not applicable to my C&C 36
The arrangement is neat, but because the location of the mast on a 1981 C&C 36 requires that everyone sitting at the table slide in from the aft end, it would be difficult to impossible to populate the forward half of the table. I have adopted another strategy. I simply remove the tabletop and turn it upside down on the cabin sole right under its normal position (with a non-skid rubber pad under it). I stow the post on a shelf wrapped in a towel. I find that the resulting alcove where the table is normally located is a good place for coolers, sail bags and lots of other stuff. I normally tie extra sails to the mast with an extra-long sail tie. When I get to anchor or a dock and want to use the table it just take a minute to move the stuff and set up the table. It's even easier to erect the double berth. As a practical matter, I rarely set the table up because here in southwest Florida most social activities are on deck.
