Think of it this way, there are any number of poeple cruising around the world towing thrity meters of ine out the back in case they fall overboard (Last Chance Grab)...This way it also generates power while they pull it around.

Of course, if they ever need to grab hold of it they will discover that it is not just very difficult to hold onto (as per the towed rope) , and even harder to hand over hand back up to the boat (ditto), and vergind ont he impossible to climb vertically up it over the transom and get back on board....But it is all infinitely more amusing when you are being spun around at 450RPM as the prop continues to spin!
