WHOOSH is on a distinguished road
Trinidad w/ kids this summer

Hey there, Peterson Family - here''s one suggestion for when you get there. Jesse James (yes, that''s really his name) runs a Maxi Taxi service ("Maxi''s" are the island busses; small vans that run all around the island) but Jesse a) specializes in servicing the yachtie community, and b) may just be the single nicest, most helpful person on Planet Earth. The reason we''re not sure about this is that he''s married to Sharon Rose, who may deserve that prize ahead of Jesse.

Anyway, they just became parents and part of almost every one of Jesse''s days is spent helping yachtie families enjoy safe transport to places that kids, not just adults, enjoy. E.g. it would be a joy to watch him take your kids (you can come along, too!) over to the ocean side of the island, late in the night, to watch the giant turtles come up on the beach and lay their eggs. It is a marvel, and all the Rangers know Jesse and of course his care of his passengers is his main priority as you wind your way up a deserted beach on a black night (the best ones for the turtles coming ashore) with a booming surf eroding the beach you''re trying to walk on. Great fun, actually, and your kids will drop into a deep sleep on the way ''home'', no doubt dreaming of huge animals and ageless cycles.

But that''s just one example. Jesse is like a Yachtie Natural Resource - try to meet him soon after you arrive and simply place yourselves in his hands. (This is advice I''ve *never* offered re: anyone else). You''ll know more about Trinis and Trinidad as a result, and you''ll be the richer for it.

Enjoy!

Jack
