I considered a 40/40 and 4100
but not the Sabre. The Tartan was the more impressive boat - but a lot more money. Both my wife and I had the same reaction to the Tartan. We saw it twice about a month apart. The first time we were really impressed with the boat - well-thought out design - especially if you are looking for a sort of home office - the nav station was particuarly large and comfortable. Storage should be adequate. The second time we saw the Tartan - after seeing a lot more boats in between, it did not impress us to the same extent. The Freedom just did not do it for us. We had looked at an old Freedom 40 and quite liked it and would have considered a 44 because it had the largish double we were looking for. The 40/40 just did produce a reaction for us.
