Obama hasnt gotten very specific yet because he is running against someone who isnt very far away from him politically. Hillary is losing because she is SO into lists of policy prescriptions, talking points, etc. But the turning point for her with the Dem party faithful was when she compounded her wrong vote to authorize invading Iraq with her vote that looked like another authorization to invade Iran. Obama has been on the right side of that issue since square one as far as Dems are concerned.
Dems really arent too impressed with the WSJ's opinion of what they ought to do. They dont want to see the Dems win anyway. As for me, I am happy to see Hillary losing - just look at this thread to see how much Republicans are already locked and loaded for a Clinton campaign. They dont even have to think about it - all of the positions and talking points can just be rerun from ten years ago, and more importantly people on both sides already have their attitudes about her pretty much set in concrete.
Obama is a very smart man. He also has oceans of cash. If what he needs to do to win is get more specific on policies then he will do that and have the money to communicate it. Dont imagine that the way the Dems run against each other is the way they will run against McCain. Also, dont think that they will stand still for the sort of smears that some rightwing nutjobs are already getting started on. Kerry proved that going on vacation while people are smearing you is a bad plan. That mistake wont happen again.
But it is still a few days until Obama has his win confirmed. Even though the news people will go on and on about delegate counts, if Obama has a clear lead in elected delegates and in the popular vote after next Tuesday then he is the guy. Then it will be time to have at it. McCain has had a pretty much free ride until now (as has Obama for the most part). That will end once the candidates are known.
