I'm not, but I
do hold you responsible for your own actions and your own hypocrisy.
You bear the responsibility for the fact that you incessantly attack our present and past office holders, charging them with racism and other sins for the flimsiest of reasons, while you sit on your hands and tolerate a Robert Byrd in your party. Before you worry about any alleged racism in our party, you should rout your party's most unrepentant racist from his honored place in the United States Senate. If I had used the "n" word just once during my career, I would have been fired. If a Republican office holder used the "n" word, you'd start a drum beat, and keep it up until he resigned. But when it comes to your highly visible racist Senator, you just can't find the courage to do it, because it would be politically disadvantageous to give up one seat in the Senate. When given a choice between honor and politics, it's clear where your priorities lie.
If you don't want to hear about your party's racist history, then don't accuse my party and it's respected members of racism. If you don't want to hear about your party's hypocrisy, then don't preach to us about racism until you have routed it out of your own party.

You seem a bit wound up and aggrieved that I find fault with the Repubs.

I don't have a problem with people finding fault with either the Republican Party or with Republicans, but I do have a problem with people who play fast and loose with the facts. Most people on this forum have a reasonable factual basis for their opinions, and I respect their opinions, but some are just propagandists.

Repubs tend to be far more cohesive and to dislike any deviation from the accepted party line. Insofar as this is true (and of course it isnt 100% true) it would be a mistake to assume that Dems are the same way. We DONT all toe the party line at all.
|
Your party's intolerance of people who don't toe the party line is evidenced by your party's primary opposition to the reelection of Joe Lieberman. Moreover, the Open Left organization has designated a long list of
Democrat officeholders as "Bush Dog Democrats" because they voted against Democrat measures to pull-out of Iraq, or, because they voted to renew the wiretap authority, or because they failed to consistently oppose proposals of the Bush Administration. Open Left promises to oppose the reelection of all Bush Dog Democrats who aren't far enough to the left to suit them. Honestly, that's a little scary. It sounds like the inmates are taking control of the asylum. That is intolerance within your party, not mine.
