Only Breckinridge, Nixon and our buddy Al have failed to get elected president after having been VP, Nixon fixed his failure 8 years later.
Gore has the dis-stink-ion of being the only VP to have served 8 years not get elected as President.
Significantly enough, only 4 VP's have been elected as presidents, Adams, Jefferson, Van Buren and a longggggg dry spell to Bush.
Gore stands right up there in the history books as a failure

thank god he has that wonderful Nobel (non-scientic category) on his mantel - without it he'd only be a large air-bag - albeit with nice hair.
He is also one of the few candidates that are taller than the one who beat him (see earlier post on how height is a valid statistic for pre-choosing who will win).
