Documenting Experience for Licensing

My time (720 days for masters) was on my own boat, but I understand the documentation needed on other people''s boats has to be signed off by the boat''s owner. This was 3 years ago in Florida - may be different where you are. They were quite picky on my time - I was even asked to explain half of the time (took place during a 3 year cruise) and show each day at sea - not aboard.

There''s no substitute for sea time and the USCG knows it. I''m not sure about the OUPV, but with a Master''s license, I have to show 320 days of sea time every 5 years to renew.

Keep plugging away!
