You're trying to put an eye-splice in 6mm double-braid??
I was told by my rope suppliers that the minimum size they'd do one was in 1/2" for all the reasons you're having problems!
All the "eye-splices" on my boat (mostly 6mm line) are made by simply bending the end around a thimble back onto itself and stitch whipping it for at least a half inch.. I sounds dodgy, but it takes 5 minutes to do and I have never had one fail.
From RFC 1925: "(3) With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead."
