KISS? or ... why a wheel?

I learned with a tiller on a Soling, then sailed with one for 5 years on a Rhodes 19 and a Nantucket 33. Personally, I prefer the stick. But, it became apparant that if I was ever going to be able to buy a boat of my own (with the First Mate''s permission, of course), it would have to have a wheel. The First Mate will not put up with being squeezed out of "her" cockpit by a piece of wood.
