While I used to sail barefoot... I've since learned that toes break... and wear shoes aboard... Dropping a winch handle on the foot can be eye opening if you don't have shoes on.
I have a couple different pairs, but during the summer, it's usually the Keen Newport Sport Sandals. Very comfy, okay grip, and leave your feet with a tiger-stripe tan.

a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
