The SH radio I have (listed in my post above) is this:
Waterproof: Front panel meets JIS-7 / IPX7,
submersible 3' for 30 minutes
I guess that makes it waterproof. Since it's inside the boat, it doesn't matter that much.
I can't find the specs for the remote mic, but it's probably the same or better.
Standard Horizon's web site kinda sucks. Even a search wouldn't turn up the CMP25. But one of the on-line seller's pages asserts "Submersible (3 ft for 30 min.)"
For cost, Defender has the radio at $159 and the remote mid for $91, or $250 plus shipping for both.
And even less at my favourite marine electronics place: Hodge's Marine Electronics
IMHO, audio quality is just about the most important 'feature' a radio can have.
It is highly
critical--esp. in a high-noise or stressful environment. Audio quality can make all the difference between understanding (correctly) and not.
Thanks for re-mentioning this one, Barry. Somehow I missed it on the first go. (I recall seeing and reading your comments, but they failed to register, somehow.)
