Your sympathy is focussed in the wrong direction. I pity the poor owner who expects to get his boat back after Moorings manages it for a few seasons, with only normal wear and tear.
I think he/she should be be suing Moorings for negligence.
I had the same thought, but I wonder what those contracts look like. I bet it's stacked in Moorings (or any other charter outfit) favor.
"Just sign here and you'll have your boat back in a few years, never mind all that font 4 writing at the bottom"
