Building a catamaran
I would contact Chris White and Dick Newick. Chris White has designed a number of simple multi-hulls in that general size range. Dick Newick has mostly designed tri''s but his designs are wonderful and comparatively easy to build. I would suspect that they will recommend using cold molded construction instead of strip planking on a boat that big.
Free standing rigs are actually quite complex to design, build anbd sail well as compared to a convention stayed rig. You can built a hinged wing mast but I am not sure it buys you much on a 30 footer.
