US Navy, started in the nuclear engineering program as a ET - got bronchitis on the dark side - was kicked out of the program. Became a sonar technician, and served onboard the USS Seahorse and USS Minneapolis-St Paul (SSNs), as well as a stint as a Naval Warfare instructor in Norfolk.....both a shellback and blue nose. Most interesting aspect was that I have actually walked on the ice at the North Pole ... 8 years was all I did as better opportunities existed in the civilian sector....
