Just wanted to let you all know that we had our last lesson this past weekend (an evening/navigation sail). Using everything I'd read on this post, it ended up being a very comfortable, enjoyable evening. With the 5 other students on board (all men) jumping to get the chance to do whatever needed to be done, I took the opportunity to sit in the corner for quite a bit and just enjoy the experience and evening cityscape. It was so relaxing I just about fell asleep.
Two days later my husband and I took out a 26' for our first solo sail. It was a gorgeous day, and there were a few issues that we encountered, but resolved, so we were pretty proud of ourselves. Looking forward to our next time out!
