Others covered most of the practical considerations. As for extra storae costs, the only time you'd pay extra for storage is if you're in a slip or on the hard. There should be no additional cost for moorage.

One aspect not mentioned, is that the sprit is a FUN place to lounge when sailing, especially off the wind on a nice reach. If you have kids, the value of that alone will be priceless!!

Also, you may be aware, but some of the Crealock 34s are equipped with a short sprit/anchor platform, about 2 feet in length. This is the same sprit that comes standard on all Crealock 31s. PSC began offering it as an option on the 34 in the early '90's. A major benefit is that the anchors are held further out over the water, improving handling and helping to avoid dinging/chipping the topsides with an errant anchor. Another advantage is that the sailplan is better balanced, and the slot between headsail and staysail is larger.
