There's a lot of GOOD information in the above article but there is also some stuff that is brand oriented and just a matter of opinion. My disagreements:

1. SharpAquos makes a fine set...but no finer than th Sony Bravia, Samsung, or Panasonic offerings in the same size which can all be had for significantly less $$.

2. Anyone buying a 32" set today should consider 1080p rather than 720p...even if you like the Aquos...you can get 1080p version for the same price quoted in the article.

3. You don't need to get custom fabricated brackets for the TV's. There's a wide variety of brackets PERFECTLY suitable for the marine environment available at the big retailers. My own mount has served me for several years with no sign of any corrosion. The mega-yachts may want stainless steel, but the rest of us can do just fine without it.

4. E2 admits the Bose systems are not the best...but does not mention any of the other mfr.'s who make very small sub/sat systems which sound better. Just about EVERY major speaker mfr. makes sub/sats...so do some listening and get a system that sounds good! I'm not sure a powered or passive sub/sat system is a particularly good idea for most sailboat owners anyway. Why not just jack the audio from the TV into the "car radio" system most of us already have on board and not requiring another separate amplifier and system?

5. While the Oppo's DVD's are fine units...there is little point in getting one now since Blue-Ray is the new standard and the price has already dropped to $350 for a unit that will play Blue-Rays, play standard DVD's and upconvert them to 1080p. No sense buying something that will shortly go the way of the VHS tape. By the way...when you buy one...DON'T buy the store HDMI cable as equally good ones are available on line for 10 bucks instead of $50.

Other than those quibbles..good article.
